THE ENGINEERING MINDSET
Dr. Fred did not start in the automotive industry looking to just swap parts. He started with a deep fascination for how complex mechanical systems work together. A modern automatic transmission is a marvel of engineering, combining hydraulics, mechanics, and computer electronics into a single unit.
Over 20 years ago, he noticed a troubling trend in the repair industry. Shops were quick to condemn entire transmissions for minor issues, or they were installing cheap, rebuilt units that failed a year later because corners were cut during the rebuild process.
He founded Dr. Fred's Transmissions, LLC to change that. The goal was simple: diagnose the actual root cause of the problem, and if a rebuild is necessary, do it right. That means using a brand new parts kit and replacing every internal component during the rebuild, not just the ones that show obvious wear, so the finished transmission is stronger and more reliable than the original ever was.
